Kelvin Young is an award-winning sound healer and co-founder of Soul Care Love, LLC. He has also been sober from alcohol and other drugs since March, 6th 2009. Kelvin received his recovery coaching training at CT Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) and his Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) certification at Recovery University in 2011. He is also trained in Intentional Peer Support (IPS) and Emotional CPR. (eCPR) The first time Kelvin was exposed to sound healing, he discovered the sounds of the crystal and Tibetan singing bowls and gongs calmed his mind, relaxed his body and nourished his soul. He went on to study sound healing with Master Sound Healers, Zacciah Blackburn of The Center of Light, Paul Hubbert of the Holographic Sound and Inner Balance and Satya Brat Jaiswal of the International Academy of Sound Healing. Kelvin has also studied with Brian Luke Seaward of Inspiration Unlimited, a renowned international expert in the field of holistic stress management. Kelvin has presented around the country in diverse settings, including CCAR Multiple Pathways to Recovery Conference, Alternatives Conference, Yoga Reaches Out, Newtown Yoga Festival, The Shift Network, Indie Yoga in San Francisco, CA, Alex Grey's Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, Copper Beech Institute, CT Women's Consortium, yoga studios, retreat centers, conferences, high schools, colleges, prisons, addiction treatment centers, psychiatric hospitals and mental health agencies. Kelvin was presented with the 2017 Dr. F. Marcus Brown Memorial Integrative Medicine Award for exceptional commitment to incorporating integrative medicine within CT Valley Hospital, a state psychiatric hospital. He also received the 2021 Deron Drumm Excellence in Integrative Medicine Award from the CT Statewide Behavioral Health Integrative Medicine Collaborative and 100 Men of Color Award Class of 2023. Kelvin serves on the board of directors at Hands on Hartford, Inc and Chapter President of the Holistic Professionals of Color in Hartford, CT. He is also an active member with The Phoenix, The Luckiest Club the International Association of Peer Supporters and Sound Healers Association. Kelvin is the co-founder of Toivo, a DMHAS funded, recovery-focus, holistic healing center in Hartford, CT. He also has been inducted into the CT Hall of Change in September, 2020 which is designed to recognize formerly incarcerated men and women who have made substantial contribution to CT communities since their release. Kelvin was also featured in a powerful documentary on trauma, addiction and recovery called "Uprooting Addiction" and is the co- author of "Find Your Voice, Save Your Life 4: Transcendent Men, Real Stories." Kelvin sustains his recovery by eating a vegetarian/plant-based diet, practicing sound healing, listening to uplifting and relaxing music, body movement, being in nature, reading, journaling, massages, reiki, acupuncture, resting and connecting with family and friends. He is passionate about holding space for people to heal and is known for his warm, loving and down-to-earth way of connecting with people. Maria del Carmen Rodriguez is a dedicated and passionate sound healer practitioner with a deep understanding of the transformative power of sound and its ability to promote healing and well-being. Aside from her lived experienced with sound from childhood on the mountains of Puerto Rico and her experience in the field on the mainland, Maria del Carmen has honed her skills in various sound healing modalities, including sound baths, sound therapy, and vibrational therapy. Driven by a genuine desire to help others, Maria del Carmen combines her knowledge of sound healing techniques with a compassionate and intuitive approach to create a safe and nurturing space for clients to embark on their healing journey. She believes that sound has the ability to harmonize the mind, body, and spirit, and works with clients to restore balance and promote self-healing. Aside from her lived experience with her elders, Maria del Carmen has received extensive training and certifications in sound healing from reputable institutions, ensuring that she is equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide effective and transformative healing experiences. She continuously expands her expertise by attending workshops, seminars, and conferences to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field. Maria del Carmen is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Metaphysical Science in Natural Medicine at Holistic Professionals of Color University Maria del Carmen tailors each session to the unique needs and preferences of her clients, allowing for a personalized and deeply transformative experience. Through her work as a sound healer practitioner, Maria del Carmen has witnessed the profound impact that sound healing can have on individuals, helping them release emotional blockages, reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, enhance creativity, and promote overall well-being. She is committed to empowering their clients to take an active role in their healing process and provide guidance and support throughout their journey. Maria del Carmen is preparing her practice to specialize in maternal sound therapy and end of life sound therapy. An essential part of her mission is to educate and bring awareness and benefits of sound healing to the BIPOC community. She's creating a world where sound healing is recognized and embraced as a powerful modality for healing and self-discovery throughout the medical mainstream. She understands first hands how sound healing can heal trauma as she herself attended the curated sound healing sessions to heal from her own sensitive transformational period. With her compassionate nature, extensive knowledge, and profound understanding of the transformative power of sound, Maria del Carmen is a trusted and skilled sound healer practitioner, ready to guide individuals on their path to healing and self-discovery. Maria del Carmen currently serves as Vice President of National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communication (NAMIC), she served as Vice President of the Windsor Junior Woman’s Club, serves as a Board of Directors for the Arts for the Soul Gallery, was a recipient of the 2018 100 Women of Color award in recognition of the contributions of women of color in business, education, entrepreneurship, entertainment, and government. She was presented with the 2019 Windsor Bridge-Builder award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to human relations by encouraging equal opportunities for all people. She has earned four citations and recognized in proclamations for her community work. Maria del Carmen nourishes her mind, body, and soul holistically by practicing her gift of sound healing, having a clean diet, she’s trained to run half marathons the last decade, feeds her mind with books that enriches her holistic lifestyle, journaling, she’s an actress and an aspiring playwright and in 2017 she launched a local talk show, GyrlSense, where she provides a platform for women of all backgrounds and ages to demonstrate their career, talent, skills, or tell their story.
